This 1-day introductory thermography training is a compact summary of the full 5-day ITC Level 1 course. While ITC Level 1 delves deeply into theory, standards, and exam requirements, this introductory training focuses on the essential basic principles that every thermographer must master before performing inspections independently.
You learn the fundamental topics of ITC Level 1 in a practical, accessible, and accelerated format, so that you:
can discover whether thermography fits within your field of work
lays a solid foundation before progressing to a full Level 1 course
understands how thermal imaging cameras work and how to perform accurate measurements
can better determine which camera and software are suitable for your application
After this introductory day, you can progress purposefully and with greater confidence to the ITC Level 1 or our own Level 1 training program.
After this day, you will have a solid foundation to work responsibly with a thermal imaging camera. You will learn, among other things:
How infrared radiation works and how thermal imaging cameras make this visible
What emissivity, reflection, and transmission mean and how to set them up
How these factors measure and interpret influence
Which type of thermographic camera is suitable for your application
How to set up the camera correctly for reliable results
How to take thermal images in different situations
How to prepare for a thermographic inspection
What to look out for to avoid common mistakes
How to analyze images using software
What is mandatory or desirable in a good report
Introduction of relevant standards, including NEN-ISO 18436
When a certified thermographer is required
How to recognize when Level 1 training is needed
Thermography seems simple, but measuring correctly and interpreting reliable images requires insight into the proper settings, conditions, and limitations of a thermal imaging camera. This course helps you avoid common mistakes and lays a strong, practical foundation.
After this day, you will be able to:
Perform reliable thermographic measurements
Perform simple inspections independently
Recognizing common abnormalities
Choosing the right camera settings
Analyzing images with software
Determining whether thermography adds value to your work
Estimating when a full Level 1 training is required
This introductory training is perfect for anyone who:
Just purchased a thermal imaging camera and wants to learn how to use it optimally
Still need to choose which camera best suits the work
Has had a camera for some time, but is not yet getting the most out of it
Want to discover whether thermography offers added value within the field
Want to know more about standards, settings, and software
Considering advancing to the Thermography Level 1 course
No prior education is required. Everyone can participate.
